Holcim Academy

Holcim Academy was launched in 2007, a centre of excellence to promote learning, to develop functional skills, organizational improvement, leadership and management skills.

Human Resource development is becoming increasingly more sophisticated and targeted. Under Holcim Academy, the first dedicated HR centre of its kind in the region, a comprehensive range of personal and organizational capacity programmes has been developed. The Academy provides soft skills development in leadership and management, functional and technical development, and highly specific training under the Organizational Performance Improvement (OPI) programme.

OPI continues to bring highly quantifiable results through its expanding teams of dedicated internal coaches. Results for the year include reduced electricity consumption and kilowatt hours per tonne of cement, more efficient truck management and streamlined administration, and increased cement production through loss elimination, technical improvements, increased team motivation, and proactive problem solving.

OPI coaching is internally provided, with representatives from all Directorates undergoing training to enable them to coach others.
