Holcim President Director, Eamon Ginley (left) and Polysius Chairman Dr.-Ing Detlev Rose signed US$ 250 million equipment contracts for the cement producer’s new Tuban 2 project. Patrick Walser, Director of Holcim Indonesia (above left) and Axel Hoene, Senior Executive-Sales, Polysius witnessed the signing.

PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk gave notice today of its intention to continue investing and expanding in the high growth cement sector by signing key equipment and installation contacts for a second cement kiln ‘Tuban 2’ at the company’s Merkawang - Tuban site.

The company’s soon-to-be-completed Tuban 1 will commence milling operations in June this year, less than 30 months after groundbreaking in 2010.

At the contract signing Eamon Ginley, President Director of Holcim Indonesia, said “We are delighted to continue our relationship with ThyssenKrupp Polysius who are assembling and installing our Tuban 1 facility. By proceeding immediately with Tuban 2 we will double our capacity from this single site, in order to ensure that we can continue to help meet Indonesia’s rising cement demand.”

Representing ThyssenKrupp Polysius, Dr.–Ing Detlev Rose, Chairman of the Executive Board responded, “We share Holcim’s commitment to the rapid expansion of the Indonesian cement industry and the highest engineering standards that will be present.”

Tuban 1 and 2 represents a considerable investment – in total over US$800 million - by Holcim in contributing to the future of the cement industry and addresses capacity constraints in the fast growing Java market as well as being able to supply outer island markets by sea. Mr. Ginley concluded, “In addition to providing the latest in cement technology, the realisation of these investment plans, is very good news in terms of local job and career opportunities, and support for local commerce as the building industry grows.”
