More biopores for the earth: Earth Day 2015


Narogong, April 22, 2015 - Celebrating the Earth Day on April 22, 2015, the Regent and the Environment Agency (BLH) of Bogor Regency cooperates with Holcim Indonesia to campaign the 5 Million Biopores program in 2015. Marking today’s event, the government of Bogor Regency plans to create 100,000 biopore holes simultaneously throughout Bogor. Taking place in Holcim Indonesia’s Narogong Plant, the event is attended by Hertin Wihartini, SH. MM, Secretary of Environment Agency (BLH) of Bogor Regency and Aries Budi Djajarianto, Holcim Indonesia Plant General Manager for Narogong Plant.

Involving the work units task force from the nearest community and local authorities and school students, the event aims to educate the people about the benefits of biopore holes especially in improving water absorption and soil functions.

“We hope this program will bring positive impacts to the environment and the communities. It is also in line with our vision to build sustainable solutions for society’s future. So, the work doesn’t stop here. We definitely need to continue for greater benefits in the future”, said Aries Budi Djajarianto.

The Goverment of Bogor Regency will continue campaigning the benefits of biopore as the technology and environmental friendly solution for flooding problem by increasing the water absorption, processing organic waste into compost and reduce CO2 emissions, benefiting the roles of soil fauna, and minimising the risks of dengue fever and malaria.
